GLAD TIDINGS

Text: Psalm 113:7-9, Psalm 30:1-5

Memory verse: He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill; (Psalm 113:7)

A time comes in the life of a man when he receives good news that can make a change one will live to remember for a long time. A day of good news is a day of joy. Imagine a man who went to bed the previous night sad and despondent. If such a man should wake up the following day only to be greeted with an amazing news of unexpected promotion or prosperity, the heart of such a man will be glad all day long.

In every man’s life there is at least one day of good news. For the world as a whole, it was a day of good tidings when Jesus Christ was born. The angels said in Luke 2:8-14 that they have brought good tidings of great joy to all people.

What is the good tiding? Because Jesus came to the world, the sick does not need to remain sick. This is because by His stripes we were healed. The poor can now become rich because by His poverty we shall be made rich. The captive can now be free because whosoever the Son shall set free shall be free indeed. The weak can now be strong because the joy of the Lord is our strength. The sad can now be joyful because the Bible says we are to rejoice in the Lord always. The fearful can now behold courage because the Bible says we have not received the spirit of fear but the spirit of boldness and of sound mind.

If you will allow Jesus Christ to take over your life, you do not need to be sick, poor, captive, weak, sad and fearful anymore. You do not need to be homeless anymore. The moment Christ came into this world He told us that in His father’s house are many mansions. You do not need to be lonely anymore because He said He will neither leave you nor forsake you. You do not need to be without friends anymore because he said we are His friends if we do whatsoever he commands us.

Today is a day of glad tidings. From this moment, you will continue to hear good news. Joy and gladness will be your lot in Jesus name.

Prayer point:

  1. O my father, cause me to hear good news this season.
  2. O Lord, unite the hearts of the church and the leaders.
